"Everybody can be great because anybody can serve...
You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love.
And you can be that servant."
                                                          - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

BISHOPBOXES

After School Programming is different, as is most of what our world looks like. BISHOPBOXES is the theatre's response to COVID 19 in that we have created and prepared activities that engage children and youth in STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) activities that will keep their brains and imaginations in full gear.

HOW IT WORKS

BISHOPBOXES are filled with small packages designed for specific virtual instruction. There are script shorts, theatre masks, STEM kits and arts and crafts materials (paper, paints and scissors).

theatre of purpose program

The Morning Bishop Theatre Playhouse, Inc. was where  McKenya Dilworth, Executive Director,  began her community activism. It was where she learned how to use the arts as effective social change agents through what is known now as "edutainment".

Dilworth founded the theatre of purpose program in 2005 in Lake County Jail in Crown Point, Indiana working with female inmates. This program produced two performances and a poetry publication. TOP has also been at the Riley Hospital for Children and HIV/AIDS forums at the Indianapolis Urban League.
